Long Road for Braves – Still Lots of Changes to the Lineup

Just say it!  The Braves have had a long season.  Ok, The Braves have had a long season.  There’s only a couple people left on the team from opening day.  Many have been shipped to and from their Triple A team, the Gwinnett Braves, several times.  The Braves also ended up making ANOTHER trade late July shedding their only left handed starter, Alex Wood.  They brought in Cuban star Hector Olivera.  Hector has been at Gwinnett ever since the trade as he’s been rehabbing from a June hamstring injury.  Most pundits thought he would be on the Brave by now but the team has been slow to bring him up here.  With not much to lose, look for Mr Olivera to join the team next week at the latest.  We will then hopefully see some of what the Braves and most scouts think is a 20 home run 80 RBI guy.

The Braves tried using Christian Bethancourt as their main catcher early this year, but by May was also back in Gwinnett.  He wasn’t hitting and his lauded defense just wasn’t there.  Christian worked hard all summer and he hit .325 and was brought up to the big league team a couple days ago.  This is his time to shine if he wants to show the team that he is the man or they will be forced to look for someone else in the off season.

Go see the team this last month of the season and see some of what the future holds.

Braves Update, June 2015

baseball_ticketsThe Braves continue to tread water waiting to see who is going to step up at the plate and on the mound.  Both the starting pitching and the hitting have done well in spurts.  The bullpen seems to be what is dragging the team down at the moment.  They have fallen to last in the league in ERA as far as the bullpen is concerned.  The team is actively seeking some sort of help in that deparment.  The starters haven’t been pitching deep into the games much.  Shelby Miller is the only one that consistently has been able to go longer in the games.  This being said, the team is still in the playoff race.

Ex-Brave Peter Moylan was signed to a minor league deal and has moved up to the AAA-Gwinnett Braves, with hopes his rehab (multiple surgeries) is working out well.

A nice surprise has been Jace Peterson at 2nd base.  His hard work has paid off on the field defensively and also at the plate.  He has done so well in fact that he has been hitting leadoff for a good while now.

Another surprise has been Cameron Maybin.  Many thought he was just a throw in with the Kimbrel trade but his hard work with hitting instructor Kevin Seitzer has seemingly paid off.  A career low .200 hitter, Cameron is now hitting around .300 with 5 homers and 9 steals while playing a stellar center field.

If we can get the bullpen more steady, let’s see where this team can go!!

2015 Braves Gear Up for the Season

2015 Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves are gearing up for the 2015 season.  Gone are the big boppers, Gattis, Upton and Heyward.  In are, Markakis, Miller and Peterson and Young.  Who, you say?  Exactly.  Lots of new faces in spring camp and many have opened up coaches eyes.

Our pitching rotation has been set for the top 4 with this last week to determine the last of the five.  Our starting pitchers will be Julio Teheran, Alex Wood, Shelby Miller and Wandy Rodriquez.

The team is looking to cut down on strikeouts when batting.  They will look to be a team that will rely more on contact instead of waiting for the 3 run home run which it seems the team has been trying to do that last couple years.

The Braves open the season on the road 4/6 with a quick 3 day series in Florida.  The home opener is against the Mets on 4/10 and stay at home through 4/15.  They only have one run at home in April starting on 4/27 vs the Nationals.  Will Dan Uggla be on the Nats and look to beat up his old team?

Stay in touch and see!

The Atlanta Braves will face the Mets on 4/10 for the home opener – Don’t wait, these tickets are going fast! Call us at 770-391-9600 for more info or visit our Braves Page online to see available inventory!

Braves Report Back to Spring Training

Braves-Spring-Training-web2The Atlanta Braves 2015 season begins with pitchers and catchers reporting this week.  1st spring game is March 4 vs the Mets and the 1st Atlanta home game at Turner field is April 1 and home for the first time on April 10 vs the Mets again.

This year will be a learning curve.  The players will all need to learn who each other is as many were traded and many signed that haven’t been here before.  Name tags should be a requirement.

Gone are Justin Upton, Evan Gattis and Jason Heyward.  All 3 were our big boppers and some of the team’s favorite players.  Our new GM, John Hart, felt the timing was right to trade some of the guys so we could get some quality young players in return.

There are some well know non roster invitees to spring trainging.  These include former closers Matt Grilli and Jim Johnson.  Former Braves Kelly Johnson is one of those non roster invitees.  He’s looking to be what Martin Prado was for this team for several years.  He could play almost anywhere and pretty did play everywhere!  Also of note is Eric Young Jr who was the player who accidentally stepped on Tim Hudson’s ankle thus ending Tim’s Atlanta career.

While there are many questions for this 2015 team, one thing is they will try hard as they always do and the fans will cheer them on.  Let’s hope all of it leads to a playoff spot in October.

Hawks in 1st Place, top of NBA

atlanta_hawksThe Atlanta Hawks start part 2 of the season tomorrow, 2/20 at home against the Toronto Raptors.  The Hawks are in 1st place and have the best record in the NBA.  4 of their 5 starters are at the All Star game and Kyle Korver starred in the 3 point contest.

The trade deadline is today and maybe the team will add another piece to help put them over the top.

Jeff Teague leads the team with 375 assists and looks to add to his team lead.  Dennis, Teague’s backup, has been a nice surprise out of Germany.  Korver is a 3 point machine and it’s been hard for teams to cover him.  He’s shooting a crazy 52.3% from that range!  Kyle is also in the top 5 in the league in free throw

Percentage at over 91%,  Paul Millsap and Al Horford lead the team in rebounding with both around 400 boards so far for the season.  Surprisingly Millsap leads the team in steals.  Not bad for a forward!

The city of Atlanta is going crazy over this team and we all hope they can continue as the season goes forward and hopefully into the Eastern Conference championship and who knows, the NBA finals!

Falcons Rise over Cardinals, Look Forward to Green Bay

Falcons Tickets

After the way the Falcons season has gone, not many people gave the team a chance when they played the team with the best record in the NFL this past weekend.  The Arizona Cardinals were that team.  The Cardinals limped out of Atlanta

After getting beat handily by what seems is a more energized and harder hitting team.  It was no coincidence this was the same weekend that defensive back William Moore came back after being out 7 weeks.  Moore is known for being

One of the hardest working players and defense and a very hard hitter.  Moore forced one fumble and made several excellent tackles to help the defense hold the Cardinals offense without a touchdown until there was less than 1 minute

In the game.

The Falcons had 2 100 + yard receivers for the game in Harry Douglas and Julio Jones for the 1st time in over a year and had a 100+ yard runner in Steven Jackson.

The Birds are still in 1st place tied with New Orleans.

Next is the always tough and very tough at home, Green Bay Packers.  We’ll see if the momentum can carry us through another win!

SEC Championship Game – Alabama Crimson Tide vs Missouri Tigers

The SEC Championship Game is here!

Alabama is set to play Missouri in the 2014 SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome on Sat Dec 6 at 4pm.sec_championship_tickets2014_web

The Missouri Tigers will be playing this final game for the 2nd time in 3 years. Missouri has five division titles since 2007 in the Big 12 and SEC, but hasn’t won a league championship. That includes a 59-42 loss at last year’s SEC championship game to Auburn . The Tigers could have a shot of sliding into the playoffs with a victory over Alabama. It remains to be seen, however if a September loss to Indiana may be too big of a fumble to overcome in the committee’s eyes.

Missouri is riding a six-game win streak since a 34-0 loss to No. 18 Georgia. Missouri (10-2, 7-1) clinched the SEC East with Friday’s 21-14 win over Arkansas, as Alabama took care of Auburn this past week to win the western division.

The Crimson Tide has won seven straight games since losing to No. 13 Mississippi, fighting off challenges from both Mississippi State and Auburn. Alabama is a perennial favorite for the game and with a win would solidify their standing in the Sugar Bowl as the No. 1 seed for the College Football Playoff Semifinals. Alabama is 2-1 in SEC Championship Games , with their last loss back in 2008.

2 Wins on the Road, Falcons Return to the Dome vs Browns

atlanta_falcons_ticketsYour Atlanta Falcons are in 1st place!  Yes, you heard that correctly.  The Birds stand at 4-6 and are miraculously all by their lonesome at the top of the division.  After not winning a road game for 2 years, the Falcons have won 2 in a row on the road.  They come back with some confidence now for the 1st home game in 6 weeks.

Your Atlanta Falcons always play better at home.  This is your chance to fill the Dome and cheer for your home team!

This past week we squeaked past a beat up Carolina Panther team.  Our kicker Matt Bryant could be our MVP of the season so far.  He kicked 4 field goals in this game and the game winner with less than 2 minutes remaining.  We held on after a missed kick by the Panthers.  Anyway you can win, you win!

The Falcons are now 4-0 in the division and would like to close on the .500 mark with this week win against the Cleveland Browns and then next week against Arizona Cardinals.  You never know!  That’s why they play the games, right?!

Stephen Jackson looks a little more fresh running the ball and the offensive line seems to be tightening up and playing better each week.  The defense even looked good too getting some pressure on Cam Newton and hitting him hard a couple times.

Coach Smith was on the hot seat after making a few questionable decisions during the Lions game in London but with these 2 wins, his seat isn’t as hot as it was!

Go Birds!

Falcons are back in town on Nov 23rd,- Don’t wait, these tickets are going fast! Call us at 770-391-9600 for more info or visit our Falcons Page online to see available inventory!

Falcons on the Road, Looking For a Win Vs Bucs

AtlantaFalcons-FalconsFaceThe Falcons come off a bye week and go to completely turn around the 1st half of the 2014 season.  To say the 1st half was a disappointment would be saying it lightly.  Coach Smith is staying the course and says no one can worry about the past.  It is what it is.  ‘We can only focus on today and then tomorrow focus on tomorrow.’

The Falcons crushed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in September at home where they play so much better.  While a drubbing of the Bucs isn’t what they expect this week, they expect to play better and a full 60 minute game instead 30-45 minutes which is what it seems like these past 5 games.

The Birds picked up safety Charles Godfrey who was waived by the Carolina Panthers.  Godfrey hopes to get in the game.  He has had to learn a new playbook but is learning quickly.  Also set to return this week are Antone Smith  and Jonathan Babineaux who suffered minor injuries during the ‘home’ game with the Detroit Lions in London 10 days ago.  Receiver Drew Davis is coming off of foot surgery and is getting closer to returning.

While the Falcons don’t play particularly well on the road, they will have to the next 2 weeks if they want to get back into the NFC south race.  Sitting at 2-6, the Falcons are still just 2 games back of division leading New Orleans Saints.  The Saints play the 49ers this weekend and if they lose and Falcons win, our Atlanta team will be right back in the race!  Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter has his work cut out for him with 4 good running backs and trying to get everyone enough snaps to get into a groove.

As said earlier this is the week that the Falcons need to start turning it around or look towards 2015.  Go Birds!

The Falcons return to The Georgia Dome on November 23rd vs The Cleveland Browns. For more information on tickets call us at 770-391-9600 or check our Atlanta Falcons Tickets online. Check us out and stay tuned for more!

Falcons Fall to Lions, Looking For a Turnaround

atlanta_falcons_ticketsThe 1st half of the Falcons – Lions game this past weekend showed us what we expect from the team.  A solid offense.  They were up 21-0 at halftime.  Unfortunately, the game got away from them and the Birds lost on a last second play.

The good thing about having a 2-6 record this year?  They are only1.5 games out of 1st place.  Heck, there’s 8 games left.  ANYTHING can happen.  We have one of the best QB’s in the NFL.  Next 2 game are against in division rivals.  Tampa Bay and Carolina.  This team can turn it around.
